Dear readers,

The year 2020 brought us new challenges, however, it did not stop Pain Alliance Europe (PAE) from working on its mission and promoting awareness of chronic pain on behalf of patients in Europe.

In this newsletter, we are glad to show you what we accomplished during the past months.

You will read about the results of PAE’s chronic pain survey on e-health and m-health. We were present at both the WIP and IASP congresses: a virtual booth at IASP Virtual Series on Pain & Expo (where we also presented our poster about the use m-health and e-health solutions), and our poster on “Chronic Pain and Stigma across Europe” was presented at the WIP Congress

You will also read about the PAE’s projects, namely about: the winners of the second edition of the BMP Grant, the updates on the MEP Interest Group on Brain, Mind and Pain and the group’s virtual meeting which will take place on the 10th of November, 2020. You will also read about what has been happening with the SIP platform, such as its position paper on cancer-related pain, the SIP European Road Map Monitor 2019 poster, as well as our recent national platforms call.

PAE also collaborated and participated with other stakeholders. For instance, we participated at the Pain Forum virtual annual meeting; gave a presentation at the EFIC webinar about “Pain Management during COVID-19”, worked on Health Awareness with the 2020 Managing Pain campaign, among others.

Last but not least, you will be able to learn more about the initiatives and activities of some of our members during these challenging times.

I hope you enjoy reading this newsletter and be safe!

Greetings,

Joop van Griensven,

PAE President
