On March 5, 2019, the Ministry of Health hosted the presentation of the results of the survey on the Italian pain therapy network, coordinated by the University of Calabria in partnership with the Italian Ministery of Health, with the collaboration of the ISAL Foundation. In Italy, the pain therapy network consists of 395 specialist centers, which provide second-level care throughout the country.
192 out of the 365 specialised centres participated to the study. The questionnaire aimed at obtaining information on the structural and functional organization of the Pain Therapy Center and on the users access to the facilities.
The critical point seems to be the lack of an adequate continuity of care. A first objective was nevertheless achieved, establishing an updated map of the network of units providing various pain therapy services.
