Societal Impact of Pain

The SIP Partners incorporated the latest input to our Framing Paper and Joint Statement  and presented the project at the Annual Meeting of the Health Policy Platform at European Commission, on the 12th of November. 

The meeting was hosted by John  F.  Ryan,  Director  Public  Health,  Country  Knowledge  and  Crisis  Management, Directorate-General for Health and Food Safety, European Commission and included the presentation of the thematic network projects of 2018, announcing the new thematic network themes for 2019, and a debate on the role of stakeholders in EU Health Policy .

Among the speakers of the day, DG SANTE Director General Anne Bucher and the Commissioner for Health and Food Safety (DG SANTE), Vytenis Andriukaitis.

The meeting hosted as well the ceremony of the  2018 EU Health Award for NGOs Working To Prevent Tobacco Use.

The end of the 2018 Thematic Network Cycle was marked by the three thematic networks’ representatives:

  • SMART HEALTHY AGE-FRIENDLY ENVIRONMENTS (SHAFE)
  • SOCIETAL IMPACT OF PAIN
  • STIMULATING FRESH FRUIT AND VEGETABLE CONSUMPTION FOR HEALTHIER EUROPEAN CONSUMERS

who gave short presentations of their projects and outcomes.

The meeting ended with a presentation of the Best Practices Portal, an initiative of the  Directorate General Health and Food Safety of the European Commission.

The endorsement period will continue until the 25 January 2019. Joining the pain-concerned community who has contributed to this elaborated and documented recommendations for policymakers allows your organisation to use the document in its advocacy work, at national and European level.
