SIP Event: Chronic Pain, Employment and Economic Competitiveness: The hidden cost of pain
Pain Alliance Europe (PAE) is proud to co‑chair an upcoming policy event at the European Parliament on chronic pain, employment, and Europe’s economic competitiveness. Hosted by MEP Jerković and organised by the Societal Impact of Pain (SIP) Platform, the meeting will highlight chronic pain as a major labour market challenge and a barrier to full participation in working life.
The event will bring together EU policymakers, researchers, clinicians, and patient advocates to discuss how Europe can strengthen preventive action and better support people living with pain to remain active, thrive, and stay engaged in employment.
During the session, participants will also be presented with SIP’s Joint Statement on Employment and the Economic Considerations of Pain, the platform’s central theme for 2026. Through expert dialogue and shared recommendations, the event aims to drive concrete EU and national action that improves working conditions, supports return‑to‑work pathways, and ensures equitable opportunities for all people living with pain.
