European Pain Federation EFIC

Bring better care to patients through healthcare practitioners education

One of the most important reasons why pain has such a severe impact on society is that healthcare practitioners are not equipped with sufficient knowledge to understand and manage pain. Lack of multidisciplinary pain education for the health workforce, including doctors, nurses and physiotherapists, continues to impede improvement in the care of chronic and acute pain patients.

The European Pain Federation EFIC is working to tackle the unmet need by advancing education in pain management. The European Pain Federation EFIC has developed an undergraduate core curriculum for medical students “The Pain Management Core Curriculum for European Medical Schools” and two core curricula on pain for postgraduate learning: “The European Pain Federation EFIC Pain Curriculum for the European Diploma in Pain Medicine” and the “The European Pain Federation EFIC Pain Curriculum for the European Diploma in Pain Physiotherapy“. Knowledge of these core curricula is evaluated through two examinations, respectively the Examination for the European Diploma in Pain Medicine (EDPM) and the Examination for the European Diploma in Pain Physiotherapy (EDPP).

The upcoming dates of the EDPM and EDPP exams are 20-21 April 2018, Leuven, Belgium.

Registration for both is open till 5 April 2018.
