Pain Concern, Scotland, UK

In one of our previous newsletters, we informed about the launch of an online radio show to support people with pain. The latest edition debates on how men and women experience pain, about how they should arm themselves with the right information, and not being embarrassed about their condition.

Do women and men experience pain differently, or is it only our attitudes towards pain that differ? In this edition of Airing Pain, Paul speaks to healthcare professionals about their findings with the literature surrounding chronic pain and the changing outlooks when it comes to seeking help.

Listen to the podcast:

During January a new programme is planned, on Fibromyalgia. The programme will focus on recent updates to the fibromyalgia clinical guidelines, aspects of self-management, and the ‘Walk With Ease’ programme being developed along with Arthritis Research UK. Paul Evans speaks to Dr Kathryn Martin and Dr Gareth Jones of the universities epidemiology department, ‘Walk With Ease’ lead walker Fionna Rennie, and a testimony from someone living with fibromyalgia.

Pain Concern believes the programme will be extremely beneficial not only people living with fibromyalgia but for their family, friends, carers and HCPs. Stay tuned!
